Readers ISO Books!

Our children choose to read books—instead of playing with learning materials such as Legos™!

At Bright School, our first and second graders delightfully read books. They write original stories in Kinyarwanda, with a bit of English and French. They love school! Rwandan educators see these children as miracles!

Why? In most public schools, children in fourth grade are just beginning to read. Until then, students copy letters and memorize meaningless syllables. They have no stories to read, at home or in school. Nearly all children hate school, and many drop out, as early as first grade.

Children in most Rwandan schools spend hours copying nonsense syllables in their journals.

The Rwandan school year is coming to an end. We hope to send each of our primary children home with a book to read until school resumes in January. Books in Kinyarwanda cost $3 to $5. Our goal? 100 children’s books! Please donate generously so every child can continue to read until school starts again.

Every gift enables us to continue our “amazing” work to encourage young readers with high-quality, modern teaching methods.
