Teachers and education leaders from around the country are eligible to participate in our ever-improving professional development system--TEACH for Transformation (T4T). Our modules were designed by experts with decades of experience in international education and—since 2010—in-country experience with Rwandan teachers and school leaders. Our modules are available in English and/or Kinyarwanda.

The first step in the T4T process is an on-site needs assessment at every new partner school.
The cost for this is $150, plus food and transport, for new schools, with discounts available for nonprofit organizations.

After a needs assessment, our intensive mentoring process--Modules 1 through 3-- begins.

TEACH for Transformation (T4T)

Continue professional development with a classroom mentor

After completing Modules 1 and 2, a TR-experienced education specialist mentors each teacher in their own classroom — observing children's learning experiences, modeling pedagogy, and offering specific, actionable feedback that builds teacher confidence, knowledge, and skills over time.

Module 3

Learn to integrate joyful learning through free play and projects

Teachers experience four day-long, hands-on workshops where they learn how and why to design and lead engaging, integrated learning experiences in Kinyarwanda, English, and French — guiding children to explore Rwanda-relevant themes through play, projects, and storytelling.

Module 2

Observe in an Exemplary School

Educators and officials visit a TR Exemplary School to see play- and project-based learning in action: 20 pre-primary children led by two responsive teachers, and primary classrooms where up to 24 children write original stories, explore their communities, engage in projects, and lead their own learning.

Specialized Workshops

TEACH Rwanda offers on-request workshops anywhere in Rwanda on topics including used found and recycled teaching and learning materials, curriculum integration, multi-language literacy, addressing special learning needs, and child-led inquiry.

Workshops are open to teachers and school leaders from TR partner schools as well as the wider Rwandan education community.
