Programmes & services

What TEACH Rwanda offers schools.

Everything we do builds expertise across the whole school. Teachers learn child development, inclusion and play‑based practice, so every child gets a quality education. Leaders, administrators, finance and HR staff learn to run a school that sustains it.

The work schools come to us for.

Teachers collaborating during a TEACH Rwanda workshop

TEACH for Transformation (T4T)

Our flagship teacher mentoring system. Three stages, observe, learn, mentor, that move a teacher from watching a play‑based classroom to running one.

We say impacted rather than trained because not every teacher was trained directly by TEACH Rwanda. Some training uses a cascade method: we train mentors, who then work with clusters of schools.

Supporting services

The practical things a classroom needs.

School partnership

A structured process, typically around two years of observation, workshops, in‑class mentoring and agreed goals, through which partner schools work towards TEACH Rwanda Standards: research‑backed, proven at Bright School, our exemplary school in Muhanga, and seen in daily practice at EDD Gahanga, Harmony and Komeza.

Local learning materials

We don't hand out kits. We show teachers how to see the learning in what is already around them: natural, recycled and locally available materials, used creatively and on purpose.

Classroom furniture

Tables, book display shelves, benches and desks handcrafted by Rwandan carpenters to TEACH Rwanda specifications: sturdy, rounded, sized for small children.

School leadership support

Head teachers and school owners are included in goal‑setting throughout a partnership, because practice that leadership has not agreed to will not survive the term.

Demonstration school visits

Educators, researchers, NGOs and government officials visit Bright School and partner schools to observe play- and project‑based learning in a working classroom.

Family and community engagement

General Assemblies, parent‑teacher conferences and open days keep families involved in how their children are taught, not just how they score. Community engagement workshops bring the approach to life for adults, not just children.

How a partnership starts

Four steps, and the first one is a conversation.

1. Needs assessment. We visit, observe your classrooms and talk with your leadership about where the school actually is.

2. Agreed goals. Targets and timelines are set jointly with school owners, administrators and teachers, not handed down.

3. The T4T cycle. Observation, workshops and in‑classroom mentoring, sequenced over roughly two years.

4. Review. Progress against the agreed goals shows how close a partner school is to meeting TEACH Rwanda Standards.

Bring this to your school
