Her experience in international teaching, as a VSO Content Developer and Teaching Methodology Advisor in Rwanda, along with an MA in International Education and Development, prepared her well to lead TEACH Rwanda into a bright future!

Morgan Dembe, BS, MBA, became TR’s Business Operations Manager in May 2023. Morgan is a champion of children’s rights and a Rwandan with a decade of experience in INGO program management in his home country. He says, “My dreams have become reality as I join the multitalented team that is doing a great job in Rwanda. I promise to contribute efforts to the team towards the betterment of the organization.”

Alain Eric Usengimana BS stood out in an early TEACH Rwanda workshop because he loved Clifford the Big Red Dog. He soon became a regular translator and after many years of volunteering joined our staff as TR Resource Development Specialist. Along the way, he completed his undergrad degree in journalism. Eric wears many hats, and he’s now the proud father of Ketia, a future Bright School student.

Anitha Mereka, a beloved and creative preschool and primary teacher at Bright School, became TEACH Rwanda’s Teacher Mentor in August 2020. She holds an A2 diploma in Early Childhood Education from TTC Matimba and is a student at Mt. Kenya University in Early Childhood and Community. How well does she exemplify what TR does? When her TTC Tutor observed her classroom several years ago, he told her, “I have a lot to learn from you.”
Anitha works with TR’s Country Representative, Rachel Walmsley, founder Jan Brown, and our other board volunteers and Rwandan staff to advocate for high-quality education in Rwanda, for both children and teachers. She co-leads TR needs assessments, Module 1 observations in our Exemplary Schools, Module 2 workshops, and coaches teachers in preschool and primary classrooms (Module 3) to implement engaging, joyful learning experiences through play.
